The boys travelled to Parafield Gardens High School to take on Angkor in a vital clash for both teams.
B Grade – The boys are starting to play some great football under Bruno Mendes and are starting to push the ball around nicely and creating plenty of space and movement of the ball and looks really good to watch. The boys started well and created plenty of chances in the first half and sould of really been up 3 or 4 nil at half time. Samson scored a goal in the first half and could of had a couple more and the teams went in a 1-0 to Lion. The second half started and the boys kept pushing forward looking for more goals and it wasn’t untill Angkor made we think 4 subs and they brought on there A Grade players to try and get the result. It was there A Grade players that started to take the game away from Lion and they got 2 second half goals and ended up running out 2 -1 Winners. B Grade was very unlucky not to take all 3 points but can be very happy with the brand of football they are playing.
A Grade – We had a bit of fun in the Parafiled Gardens Basketball Court before the game and had a few shots just to do something different i don’t think we have any NBA stars in our team. We had almost a full strength side and welcomed back the Terminator Allan Hutchinson for his first game of the Year. We started of very well and took it right up to Angkor and told them to put pressure on them all over the park and we did that. We pushed the ball around and didn’t panic and the brand of football was enjoyable to watch. We created plenty of chances in the first half and it was a great finish by our new striker Magnus to give us a 1 – 0 lead and we kept pushing for more goals and Magnus added another in the first half (was it off his butt i don’t think he knew much about it) and we finished the first half 2 – 0 up. It was our best performance to date and the boys were hungry i could see it and they wanted more and we went out in the second and didn’t change to much and we kept control of the game and created more chances to burry the game. The marking job on Angkor Superstars was first class and kept them out if the game. Our 3rd goal was all class a great outside if the foot pass down the line from Andre and Jack picked it up on the wing and looked at the keeper that was well of his line and he went for a crazy lob that went into the goals to make it 3-0. Angkor got a soft goal back after a error in the back line to make it 3-1 and created a couple of chances but we had full control of the game. In the end we ran out 4 -1 winners after the Mo Mohammed came on and won the penalty and converted it himself. Special mention the the Terminator Hutchinson with his first game back after a long injury lay off was superb in the back with crunching tackles and strengh at the back (except for his first touch) Hutch was Best on Ground for the A Grade. Overall it was a great win and the boys really enjoyed it and kept us alive in the race for promotion. The song was sung with plenty of passion. Now to bring on undefeated One Tree Hill in a must win game and we should have plenty of confidence after that result against Angkor.
